Sri Lanka Navy will take part in the 67th Independence Day Celebrations
Sri Lanka Navy will take part in the 67th Independence Day celebrations scheduled to be held at the Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte Parliamentary Grounds on 04th February 2015 under the guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera.
Commodore Noel Kalubowila will ride in the pilot vehicle representing the Sri Lanka Navy at the Independence Day parade. The naval contingent, which marches in the parade will be led by Commander Sharmen Dodangoda. It consists of five divisions comprising naval personnel representing the Naval Headquarters, the Afloat Command, the Special Boat Squadron (SBS), the Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) and women sailors.
A total of 640 naval personnel will march, clad in blue and white uniforms and camouflage to the tunes played by the Navy Band. The President’s colours of the Naval Headquarters, Eastern, Northern, Afloat Commands, and Naval and Maritime Academy conferred in recognition of the services of excellence rendered to the Nation will be paraded with pride by the naval personnel, showing the pivotal role played by the Navy in protecting the seas surrounding the island-nation.
The Naval Headquarters contingent consisting of all branches will be commanded by Lieutenant Commander Prasanna Ranasinghe. Naval troops belonging to the Afloat Command, the Fourth Fast Attack Flotilla and the Navy's Fast Gun Boats Squadron will march under the command of Lieutenant Commander Tyronne Galgodalla. Naval troops of the Special Boat Squadron, the veterans in the water-born, land-based and air-born warfare will be led by Lieutenant Commander Sagara Lokuge. Naval troops belonging to the Rapid Action Boat Squadron will march under the command of Lieutenant Commander Priyashantha Wickremaarachchi. Navy women sailors, who render a valuable contribution serving in the Medical, Communication, Supply and IT branches, will march under the command of Lieutenant Commander Sevvandi de Silva.
