State Minister of Defence visits Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna
 

The State Minister of Defence Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene visited the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna on 06th February 2015. He was accompanied by the Chief of Defence Staff  General Jagath Jayasuriya, the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera and the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kolitha Gunathileke. The State Minister of Defence was warmly received by the Commander Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna Major General Jagath Alwis on arrival at the Plalai Airport.

The State Minister of Defence laid floral tributes at the War Hero Memorial at the SFHQ Jaffna, marking his first official visit after assumption of ministerial office. Thereafter, he was accorded a Guard of Honour by the troops of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) regiment.

The State Minister of Defence had also addressed a cross section of the tri-forces personnel serving in the Jaffna peninsula during his visit to the SFHQ-J. He had stated that the national security would not be compromised at all costs. He had also commended the heroism of the service personnel safeguarding the Motherland and stated that priority would be given to enhance their professionalism and welfare facilities.

The Commander Northern Naval Area Rear Admiral Sarath Dissanayake and regional heads of the Armed Forces had also been present on the occasion.
