NSVU holds a special function in view of World Women's Day
 

In view of the Worlds Women's Day, under the patronage of its President  Mrs. Shalika Perera a special function was organized at the Naval Headquarters on 06th March 2015. The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera was the chief guest and senior naval officers and members of the NSVU were present on the occasion.

Continuing the activities extended toward the welfare of ladies related to the Navy, a special loan scheme was introduced at an affordable interest and scholarships were presented for 5 students of those who sacrificed their lives in action. The winners of the poster competition titled “the Woman and Management” also received their prices at the event. Handing over a check worth of Rs. 4 million to the Naval Hospital to equip maternity and pedantry unit also took place at the function.

In recognition of the free services provided at the computer centres functioning under the NSVU Computer Awareness Project, letters of commendation were handed over to the Open System Integrated Limited and the Lanka Communication Systems Limited by the Commander of the Navy during the event. Concluding the function a special lecture was delivered by Prof. Sarath Wijesuriya focusing on the “Woman and Management”.

A book written by Lieutenant Commander Nalika Perera was also launched at the event and the first copy was handed over to the Commander of the Navy.
