Commander of the Navy declares open the Naval Printing Unit
 

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera, declared open the Naval Printing Unit established at SLNS Gemunu in Welisara on 09 th April 2015. Mrs. Shalika Perera, Rear Admiral Dayananda Nanayakkara (the Commander Western Naval Area), senior naval officers of the Naval Headquarters and the Western Naval Command were also present on the occasion.

The unit is equipped with latest machinery and technology, which enable it to make high quality printing productions. It fulfills a long-felt need of the Navy which had been compelled in the past to depend on various outside institutions for its wide-ranging printing requirements. The facility also consists of laminating, binding, stitching and foiling sections which are operated by naval personnel with specialized training in printing.

The opening ceremony concluded with the presentation of a Vesak card printed at the newly opened Printing Unit to the Commander of the Navy symbolizing the auspicious commencement of the latest venture of the Sri Lanka Navy.
