Commander of the Navy visits North Western Naval Area & North Central Naval Area

The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera visited SLNS Barana and SLNS Therapuththa of the North Western Naval Area and Command Headquarters of North Central Naval Area on 04th June 2015.

On arrival in the North Central Naval Command Headquarters in Thalaimannar, the Commander of the Navy was received by the Commander North Central Naval Area Rear Admiral Dimuthu Gunawardena. During the visit the Commander of the Navy discussed the infrastructure development of the base. He also planted a coconut sapling to mark the visit.

The Commander North Western naval Area Rear Admiral Sarath Mohotty received the Commander of the Navy on arrival in the North Western Naval Area. During the visit, the Commander of the Navy declared open the Naval Institute, which has been a long-felt need for senior and junior naval personnel at SLNS Theraputta in Silawathura. The spacious facility located in a scenic environment is equipped with all amenities to host a multitude of social functions.

Thereafter, the Navy Commander declared open the newly constructed pier at SLNS Barana in Mullikulum. The 30-meter long pier with a 6-meter width has been designed to facilitate the berthing of Inshore Patrol Craft, which are deployed for patrolling the sea area under the NWNA’s purview. Completing the visit, he addressed the officers and the sailors of the North Western Naval Command.
