Pakistan Chief of the Army Staff pays a courtesy call on Commander of the Navy
 

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Pakistan Army General Raheel Sharif, NI (M) paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera at the Naval Headquarters in Colombo on 06th June 2015. He was accorded a Guard of Honour and warmly received by the Commander of the Navy on arrival.

They held cordial discussions on matters of mutual interests and bilateral importance. Mementos were also exchanged to mark the occasion, symbolizing the goodwill of the two friendly forces.

The Pakistan Chief of the Army Staff is in Sri Lanka on a five-day official visit at the invitation of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva.

General Raheel Sharif, NI(M) is an alumnus of Government College Lahore and graduate of the Pakistan Military Academy. On his commissioning with 54th Pakistan Military Academy Long Course in October 1976, he joined the 6th Battalion of the Frontier Force Regiment. As a young officer, General Sharif performed his duties in an Infantry Brigade and later attended Company Commanders’ Course in Germany. He is a graduate of Canadian Staff College, National Defence University Pakistan and Royal College of Defence Studies, United Kingdom.

His illustrious military career includes coveted appointments in different ranks. He has been Adjutant of Pakistan Military Academy, Instructor in Infantry School, Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade, Directing Staff in Command & Staff College Quetta, Chief of Staff of 12 and 30 Corps and Commandant of Pakistan Military Academy.

Before assuming the command of Pakistan Army, General Sharif was appointed as Inspector General Training & Evaluation wherein he oversaw the training of Pakistan Army.
