Outgoing Chief of Defence Staff pays farewell call on Commander of the Navy
 

The outgoing Chief of Defence Staff General Jagath Jayasuriya paid a farewell call on the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera on 15th June 2015. He was accorded a Guard of Honour on arrival at the Naval Headquarters.

The Commander of the Navy took the opportunity to convey his gratitude to General Jayasuriya for the valuable service given during his tenure as the Chief of Defence Staff and the continuous assistance extended to the Navy in enhancing its operational efficiency and professionalism of its personnel. He also expressed his admiration of the exceptional services rendered by General Jayasuriya to safeguard the national security in the post-conflict environment and the initiatives taken to uplift the tri-services’ capabilities for the defence of the motherland.

Bidding farewell on completion of an illustrious military career spanning thirty-five years, the Navy Commander wished the outgoing Defence Staff Chief good health, happiness and success in his future endeavours. Mementos were also exchanged to mark the occasion.
