Commander of the Navy visits South Eastern Naval Area
 

The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera visited the South Eastern Naval Area on 19th June 2015. He was received by the Commander South Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Jayantha de Silva on arrival.

During the visit, the Commander of the Navy declared open the newly constructed senior sailors married quarters at SLNS Mahanaga in Panama. The single-storey building, which fulfils a long felt need of the naval base, consists of two spacious bed rooms, a kitchen, a veranda, separate dining and living areas.

The Navy Commander also declared open the newly constructed base pier at SLNS Mahanaga to facilitate the berthing of the small craft, which are deployed for patrolling the sea area under the purview of the naval base. After presiding a Command Briefing at the Command Conference Room, the Navy Commander launched the official area web site, which has been designed to provide timely updates on happenings in the area and a host of useful information to the naval personnel attached to the SENC. Concluding the visit, the Navy Commander addressed the officers and the sailors of the South Eastern Naval Command at the Command auditorium.
