Inter Ship/Craft Rigging Championship

The finals of the rigging competition 2015 organized by the FOCNF organization for the ships and craft, was held at the gymnasium of the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee on 8th September 2015. The Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet (FOCNF), Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva participated as the Chief Guest. A large number of naval officers including Rear Admiral Dayananda Nanayakkara, and sailors of the Afloat Command were also present on the occasion.

The objective of the competition was to enhance the competency of rigging, which is compulsorily required for seamen, through competitiveness whilst building up leadership and team work.

Teams representing 77 ships and craft took part in the competition and five teams reached the semi finals, having performed competitively. Each team comprised of an officer, 03 sailors from the Seaman Branch and a sailor from other branches.

At the finals, SLNS Ranarisi and P4446 competed to be the champion ship/craft.  After a neck-to-neck competition, SLNS Ranarisi became the champion and P4446 became the runner-up. Leading Seaman TMTL Doraliyadda was adjudged the best performer out of 385 competitors.
