Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the 15th Junior Naval Staff Course

The Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the 15th Junior Naval Staff Course (JNSC) was held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee on 12th September 2015.  Rear Admiral Dayananda Nanayakkara, the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Senior officers representing the Naval Headquarters and a large number of officers including the Training Captain of the Naval and Maritime Academy and the Heads of Departments in the Eastern Naval Command also attended the ceremonial event.

Eighteen (18) officers from various branches of the SLN, who successfully completed the 18-week first semester in preparation for their Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management, received their certificates from the Chief Guest at the ceremony.

The Junior Naval Staff Course is a forerunner course to gain staff qualification and it aims at qualifying junior officers to perform their duties in the most efficient manner in command and staff appointments.

Lieutenant Commander (E) IWANS Madusanka secured the First in Order of the Merit of the course receiving the Highest Aggregate for Management, Leadership and Staff Works Modules. The prizes for the Best Commandant’s Service Paper and the Best Public Speaker were awarded to Lieutenant Commander MVSD Manikge. Lieutenant Commander (CDO) HGCV Piyasena and Lieutenant PARK Ranasinghe won the awards for the most Inspirational Officer of the course and the Best Sportsman of the course respectively.
