Sri Lanka Navy rescues 3 Indian fishermen in distress in northern waters

Sri Lanka Navy rescued an Indian trawler with three (03) Indian fishermen in distress within Sri Lankan waters, off Analativu on 20th September 2015. They had been drifting due to shortage of fuel and a technical defect in their fishing trawler, when they were spotted by an SLN craft on routine patrol.

The rescued Indian fishermen and their defective fishing trawler (IND/TN/06/MM/518) were towed to Karainagar Naval Base to render repair assistance. On completion of the repairs, the trawler was escorted to the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) on 21st September. The rescued fishermen were provided with food and refreshments during their stay in the navy base as they were found exhausted due to the ordeal of drifting in rough seas.
