A patient reaches ashore with SLN assistance

In response to a request made to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo manned by the Sri Lanka Navy, an SLN craft rendered assistance to bring an acutely ill patient who had been onboard the merchant tanker, Horin Trader, ashore for emergency medical treatment on 29th September 2015.

The Philippine – flagged vessel was en route to Singapore from Oman when one of its crew members suddenly became ill. while in south eastern Sri Lankan waters off the Great Basses, SLN dispatched a fast naval craft attached to the Southern Naval command to the location and the patient, who was in a severe condition, was safely brought to Hambantota Harbour to receive medical treatment in liaison with the ship’s agent in Sri Lanka.
