Navy felicitates Romesh for his bravery in saving is mother’s life

The Sri Lanka Navy presented a cheque worth of Rs. 50,000/= under the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, to Romesh Madhuwantha, a resident of track 2, Dikwewa, Senapura, as a token of appreciation for fighting for the life of his beloved mother sacrificing his own life. By seeing his mother struggling to escape from the crocodile, he has jumped into the water and fought with it until the crocodile left him and the mother. This brave act of saving the life of his mother who was caught in the deadly jaws of a crocodile was given wide publicity by the media.

The cheque, which was provided from the Sri Lanka Navy Social Responsibility Fund, was handed over to Romesh Madhuwantha at the Teaching Hospital in Kurunegala, where his beloved mother is receiving medical treatment. The appreciation of the Commander of the Navy was also conveyed to Romesh, commending his brave act which is exemplary and worthy of emulation by all children who truly love their precious parents. Receiving the gift gratefully, Romesh expressed his whole-hearted gratitude to the Commander and thanked him for sending a team of naval officers all the way from Colombo to appreciate his brave act.
