Bangladesh Naval Ship “Abu Bakr” arrives at the Port of Colombo

Bangladesh Naval Ship “Abu Bakr” arrived at the Port of Colombo on a goodwill visit on 20th October 2015. The ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on arrival. Officials of the Bangladesh High Commission were also present on the occasion.

The Commanding Officer of the ship, Captain Mohammad Mahmudul Malek paid a courtesy call on the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva at the Western Naval Command Headquarters in Colombo today (20). They held cordial discussions and exchanged mementos as a gesture of goodwill.

The ship’s crew is scheduled to take part in a friendly basketball match at the Welisara Naval base to show their solidarity and enhance the long standing friendship. Fifty Sri Lanka Navy personnel will be welcomed onboard on the 2nd day of the ship’s stay in Sri Lanka.

The visiting ship will stay in Sri Lanka until 23rd October.
