Commander of the Navy accords a warm welcome to ex-Royal Navy officer visiting Sri Lanka

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne accorded a warm welcome to Lieutenant Commander (Retd) Gordon M Scott MBE, a retired officer of the Royal Navy when he called over at the Naval Headquarters in Colombo on 18th November 2015 while on visit with his wife to Sri Lanka. He reminisced his memorable visit to Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) in 1945 at the age of 19 years and long association with the Sri Lanka Navy during the meeting with the Commander of the Navy.

It was a very special occasion for Lieutenant Commander Scott, now a member of the Royal Naval Reserve, who had just celebrated his 90th birthday. The Commander of the Navy wished him good health and long life and assured him that he would make arrangements enabling him to visit several SLN establishments which still hold him fond memories being a devoted officer who regards the Navy very dear to his heart.
