Interest-free loans granted to 400 senior sailors

Interest-free loans worth Rs. 500,000/= each were granted to 400 senior sailors at a function held under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters in Colombo on 01st December 2015. The financial assistance was provided on a concept of the Commander of the Navy in view of the 65th Anniversary of the Navy. As a result, 400 senior sailors, who had been selected in accordance with their seniority, received interest-free loans under the first stage of the welfare scheme. This enables them to settle any outstanding loans, complete partially built houses, meet financial requirements related to their children’s education and any other pressing personal financial needs.

The senior naval officers attached to the Naval Headquarters and the Western Naval Command were also present on the occasion.
