Navy arrests eleven persons engaged in illegal fishing

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijaya in Kalpitiya arrested 11 persons with 3 Fiber Glass Dinghies (FGDs) on engagement in illegal fishing in the seas between Kudiramalai and Karaitivu on 03rd December 2015. A fishing net (Hembili net), 6 oxygen cylinders, 4 pairs of diving fins, 4 snorkels and 4 diving masks were also taken into custody during the arrest.

The arrested persons along with the items were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries (Puttalam) for further investigations.
