Navy rescues an injured fisherman in southern seas

Sri Lanka Navy rescued an injured fisherman in the southern seas, on 02nd December 2015 in response to a request made by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard. He was brought to the Galle Harbour by Sri Lankan Naval Ship Jayasagara.

The injured fisherman had been among the 05-member crew of a multi-day fishing trawler named "Yasaisuri", which had left for fishing from Beruwala Fishery Harbour on 10th November 2015.

Following the instructions sent by the Naval Headquarters, the Southern Naval Command directed SLNS Jayasagara, which had been on routine patrol, to bring the fisherman ashore. After the preliminary treatment by SLN medical personnel, the fisherman was handed over to his relations to be taken to receive further treatment.
