Commander of the Navy visits Northern Naval Area

The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne visited the Northern Naval Area on 21st December 2015. He was received by the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva. The Navy Commander was accompanied by several senior naval officers attached to the Naval Headquarters and the Northern Naval Command.

The Commander of the Navy addressed the officers and sailors of the Northern Naval Area at Fort Hammenheil and SLNS Kanchadewa in Kyts where he was accorded a guard of honour on arrival. During the speech he emphasized the importance of the service rendered by the naval personnel in reaching military and national objectives whilst maintaining a good relationship with the civilian community in the area. The dedication and commitment of the officers and sailors to fulfill the assigned tasks and to maintain the operational readiness both at sea and on land were appreciated by the Commander.

Prior to the commencement of his Northern Naval Area visit, the Commander of the Navy called on the Chief Incumbent of the Dambakolapatuna Sangamiththa Viharaya and obtained his blessings.
