Navy donates books to Northern students for the new school year
 

The Northern Naval Command under the guidance of the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva donated books to over 1,000 students studying in schools located on the islets of the Northern Province for the new school year. The book donation campaign was organized with the generous support extended by well wishers to show appreciation of the students’ efforts at excelling in their studies despite many hardships encountered due to the remoteness of location and harsh living conditions.

The students from RC Ladies College, Delft Maha Vidyalaya and Saivapraksh Vidyalaya in Delft, J/Parameswara Vidyalaya in Veththalakerni J/Punguduthivu Rajarajeswary Tamil Mixed Vidyalaya in Punguduthivu, J/Madagal Nunasai Vidyalaya in Madagal, J/Analaitivu Sadhasiwa Maha Vidyalaya in Analaitivu, J/Eluvativu Murugavel Vidyalaya in Eluvativu, Nainativu Maha Vidyalaya and Sri Ganesha Kanista Maha Vidyalaya in Nainativu were the beneficiaries of the Navy’s community welfare project aimed at uplifting the educational level in the respective areas. The Commanding Officers, officers and sailors attached to SLNS Elara, SLNS Agbo, SLNS Wasaba, SLNS Gotaimbara and Naval Deployment Veththalakerni rendered assistance in the book donation, joining hands with the parents and the school staff to create a better tomorrow for the children who will one day grow up to be exemplary citizens, committed to safeguard the hard won peace and the resultant prosperity for all Sri Lankans.
