SLN organizes its first ever International Logistics Conference in Trincomalee
 

Logistic Conference 2016 organized by the Sri Lanka Navy on the theme of “Contemporary Logistics Management: Challenges and Opportunities” was held on 26th February 2016 at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee. Local and foreign naval logistics training institutions, universities, and entrepreneurs involved in naval logistics, Government institutions, the Sri Lanka Army, the Sri Lanka Air Force and renowned scholars in the field of logistics took part in this conference. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and the Vice Chancellor of the Sri Jayawardenapura University, Professor Sampath Amarathunga delivered the keynote address.

The conference was organized to widen the knowledge of all participants through gaining proficiency in the field of logistics. Among the objectives of the conference, which is the first of its kind to be held in the Navy, are the developing its logistics branch officers’ know-how in contemporary developments in the logistics field and logistic awareness of all other branch officers, acquiring and sharing logistics knowledge and techniques of corporate sector intellectuals through their speeches/ papers. Creation of an environment for all officers in the Navy to present their papers in the logistics field, extending an invitation for leading companies working with the SLN to participate in the forum by presenting papers relevant to the subject. As a result promoting NMA and the Navy as a professional entity in the logistics field and exploring the challenges and opportunities in the field of logistics management.
