Navy arrests seven fishermen engaged in illegal harvesting of sea cucumbers
On receipt of information, naval personnel attached to SLNS Buwaneka in North Central Naval Command arrested 7 fishermen who engaged in illegal harvesting of sea cucumbers in the seas off Nachchikuda on 14th March 2016. Along with the suspects a Fiber Glass Dinghy and 80 kg of sea cucumbers were apprehended.
The arrested persons and belongings were produced to the officials of the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries, Kilinochchi for onward investigations and action.
