Sri Lanka Defence delegation visits Goa Shipyards Ltd in India to inspect the AOPV's being built for Sri Lanka Navy

Whilst on tour to attend the Defence Expo 2016 in Goa, India the State Minister of Defence, Hon Ruwan Wijayawardena and Secretary Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi along with the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Chrishantha De Silva took time off on 27th March 2016 to visit Goa Shipyards Ltd to inspect the the progress of the two Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessels being built for Sri Lanka Navy. The first AOPV is scheduled to join the SLN fleet in August 2017 and the second one year after. The Sri Lankan delegation was warmly received by the Chairman of Goa Shipyards Ltd, Rear Admiral (Retd) Shekar Mittal along with the Managing Director and the shipyard officials. They held cordial discussions reviewing the progress of the ship building process. Moreover they visited an almost completed similar type APOV being built for the Indian Coast Guard to see the facilities and equipment fitted on board.
