Navy conducts two blood donation camps
 
 

According to concept of the patron of Shraddha TV and Radio Network, Rev Aludeniye Subodhi Thera and under the guidance of the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, two blood donation camps were conducted in the Western and Eastern Naval Commands during the last few days.

These programmes were carried out as the second phase of “Rudhira Dhana” blood donation campaign, in view of contributing to the provision of much needed blood requirement of blood banks during the Sinhala and Hindu festive season. As a result National Blood Transfusion Service Joined hands with the Sri Lanka Navy to conduct this blood donation drive. Accordingly, under the precedence of the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, a blood donation camp was held at SLNS Parakrama on 11th April 2016. It was seen that, a large number of officers and sailors joined this magnanimous cause with full of enthusiasm.

In the similar vein, the Naval Hospital in the Eastern Naval Command, in coordination with the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital conducted another blood donation camp at the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee on 8th April 2016. The event which was coordinated by the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Neil Rosayro, saw the voluntary contribution of 256 naval personnel as donors of blood.
