Navy clinches the Golf Champions title in Defence Services Games 2016
 

Sri Lanka Navy won the overall championship beating the Air Force in the second Defence Services Games’ Golf tournament. The tournament was held in Nuwara-Eliya Golf Course from 11th to 13th of this month. Golfers representing the Army and Air Force also took part in the tournament which was hosted by the Navy.

Representing the Sri Lanka Navy Captain Paradeep Karunathilaka won the championship in over 40 “open” category where as Captain Jagath Kumara became the runner-up in the same event. Ordinary Seaman D.M.P.P. Bandara won the coveted title and certificates emerging as the golfer who scored most points (34) in the tournament. Meanwhile Ordinary Seaman D.G.D.P. Perera held onto the second place in the same event scoring 32 points.

The victorious Navy golfers visited the President of Navy Golf Club and Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters in Colombo today (16). Commander of the Navy highly appreciated the excellent performance of the Navy Golf team during the tournament. The secretary of Navy Golf Club, Captain Rohana Lelwala and its treasurer Captain Jagath Kumara were also present on the occasion.
