Commander of the Navy congratulates the sailor who set three world records
 

Leading Seaman Sanath Bandara, managed to secure three awards in the award ceremony organized by Assists World Records Research Foundation in India on 27th May 2016. Leading Seaman Bandara happened to be the only Sri Lankan and the only person to clinch three awards at a time in the ceremony which gave away number of awards for the world record holders.

During a meeting held at the Naval Headquarters yesterday (1) Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne congratulated the sailor for his exceptional achievements and promised to extend the fullest cooperation of the Navy for his future training activities. Further he was rewarded with a cash gift of Rs. 50,000 and a memento as well.

Among the records the sailor has set, continuously running 256 km and 800 m in 24 hours (in 2007), running 251 km and 550 m on a treadmill in 24 hours (in 2008) and equalling the world record of wearing 257 T-shirts at once (in 2012) are quite prominent. With the recommendation of World Records Research Foundation he received three awards at the award ceremony in recognition of above achievements. The sailor will leave for Australia for training of his next world record on 6th of this month.
