Commander of the Navy visits Eastern Naval Area
 

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne paid an observation visit to the Eastern Naval Area on 04th and 05th of this month. Commander of the Navy was received by Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Travis Sinniah upon his arrival and was accompanied by several senior naval officers attached to the Naval Headquarters and the Eastern Naval Command.

During the visit Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne took part in a tree planting ceremony organized parallel to the World Environment Day at SLNS Wijayaba and made inspection at SLNS Walagamba as well. Subsequently he addressed the naval personnel of the Eastern Naval Area at the auditorium of Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee. During the speech he emphasized the importance of the service rendered by the naval personnel in reaching military and national objectives whilst maintaining a good relationship with the civilian community in the area. The dedication and commitment of the officers and sailors to fulfil the assigned tasks and to maintain the operational readiness both at sea and on land were appreciated by the Commander of the Navy.
