Naval personnel nab three local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing
 

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijaya, Kalpitiya in Northwestern Naval Command arrested three local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing using unauthorized nets in the seas off Ippantivu and Periyaarachchal yesterday (8). During the arrest, 2 Fiber Glass Dinghies and 2 monofilament nets were taken into naval custody.

The arrested fishermen and the items were handed over to Assistant Director of Fisheries in Puttalam for onward action.
