Naval personnel nab twenty-three local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing
 

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vidura located in Sampoor in the Eastern Naval Command arrested twenty-three local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing using unauthorized nets in the seas off Sampoor yesterday (12). During the arrest, 3 Fiber Glass Dinghies, 3 monofilament nets and 2 Diving Masks were taken into naval custody.

The arrested fishermen and the items were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector in Muttur for onward action.
