A grand reception held onboard Royal Australian Navy ship, HMAS Perth

Displaying her warm hospitality, a grand reception was held onboard the Royal Australian Navy ship, HMAS Perth last evening (20). The ship which is on a five-day goodwill visit to Sri Lanka, arrived at the Port of Colombo on 19th June 2016. Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Meanwhile the Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Bryce Hutchesson, Ambassadors and Defence Attachés of foreign countries ,Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne, Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, a large number of dignitaries, senior naval officers and their spouses were also present on the occasion.

The guests were welcomed onboard by the His Excellency the High Commissions and Commanding Officer of the ship Captain Ivan Ingham and they were served with a wide array of scrumptious Australian cuisine. Mementos were also exchanged to mark the occasion. The reception came to an end with the displaying of a colourful ceremonial sunset parade onboard. Further a number of events and exercises are organized for the ship’s crew of HMAS Perth, by the Sri Lanka Navy, during their stay in Colombo.
