Navy apprehends 6 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Gajaba located in Thalpadu, Mannar in North Central Naval Area, arrested 06 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using unauthorized fishing nets in the seas off Erukkulampiddi Point yesterday (9). Along with the suspects 2 dinghies and 6 monofilament nets were also taken into custody.

The apprehended persons and items were produced to Mannar Assistant Director of Fisheries for onward action.
