Navy apprehends 11 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing
 

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Buwaneka located in Nachchikuda in the North Central Naval Command arrested 11 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using monofilament nets in the seas off Muddalampiddi yesterday (12). Along with the suspects 7 Fiber Glass Dinghies and 8 Monofilament nets were taken into naval custody.

The arrested fishermen and the items were handed over to Mannar Directorate of Fisheries for onward action.
