Navy ruggerites records impressive performance at second edition of Western Province Rugby Sevens
 

Sri Lanka Navy ‘A’ ruggerites clinched the second edition of the Western Province Rugby Sevens title with complete ease, beating the Havelocks ‘A’ by 32 to 10 points. The Cup Final was held at Police Park yesterday (20) expecting a neck and neck fight between the two teams. However the Navy ‘A’ managed to record a thumping victory in the final.

In the first half of the match the Navy was well in front with a clear lead of 15-5 and gradually extend their lead further (32-10) as the game progressed, taking the full control of it. The performance of Dinusha Chaturanga, Lee Keegal and Nivanka Prasad was outstanding and that aided Navy ‘A’ to clinch the Western Province Rugby Sevens title. During the game Dinusha Chaturanga managed to score 2 tries and Chanaka Chandimal fluffed all three conversions. A total of 23 teams took part in this year’s Western Province Sevens Rugby tournament. Meanwhile the Navy ‘B’ beat CH and FC by 29-5 in the Plate Final as well.
