Newly built jetty and gas stores declared open at Naval Dockyard Trincomalee
 

The newly built jetty at the Naval Dockyard, expanding its existing berthing facilities, was declared open by Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Travis Sinniah on 4th September 2016. As a result of the latest development, the newly opened jetty will now facilitate safe berthing of ships and craft within the Dockyard premises. The construction work got off ground following the guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, and the total length of the jetty is 628 feet.

Further, the opening of the relocated LP Gas cylinders storing yard, which was set up at a safe location in the Dockyard premises, also took place on the same day. The gas stores which was previously located in an area where the naval personnel gather in numbers, shifted to a secured location considering the safety of naval personnel in a situation of emergency. The able labour contribution of the naval personnel was utilized for both constructions. The events were attended by a large number of senior officers, officers and sailors of the Eastern Naval Command.
