Underwater UXO recovery training comes to an end in Trincomalee
 

The Underwater Unexploded Explosive Ordinance recovery training conducted for the Sri Lanka Navy Divers by the members of US Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 5, came to an end in Trincomalee on 08th September 2016. The training programme which was started on 22nd August helped the Sri Lanka Navy Divers to enhance their knowledge and capabilities.

Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Travis Sinniah graced this occasion as the chief guest. Commanding Officer US Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 5 Commander Benjamin Cipperley joined the closing ceremony distributing certificates among the participants who completed the course successfully. Meanwhile the US team donated a new underwater camera, GPS units and related equipment which are very much useful for under water Explosive Ordnance Disposal mission. The occasion was attended by a host of officers and sailors from the Eastern Naval Command. Mementoes were also exchanged symbolizing the significance of this occasion.
