Navy apprehends 4 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing
 

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Buwaneka located in Nachchikuda in the North Central Naval Command arrested 4 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using monofilament nets in the seas off Mundampiddi Periyaaru yesterday (13).

Along with the suspects, a traditional boat (Wallam) and 4 monofilament nets were taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons and belongings were handed over to the Mannar Assistant Director of Fisheries for further investigations.
