A stock of medical equipment donated for the use of Ambulance Watercraft and Delft Divisional Hospital
 

A donation of medical equipment for the use of Navy’s Ambulance Watercraft and Delft Divisional Hospital was made at the naval base SLNS Wasaba located in the Delft Island on 21st September 2016. The stock of medical equipment was handed over to the District Medical Officer of the Delft Divisional Hospital, Dr. Cumarasamy Balachandiran by Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva.

Responding to a request made by the Command Medical Officer (North), The State Pharmaceutical Corperation sponsored the items worth approximately Rs. 90,000 The donated items included an ENT set, Stethoscope, BP apparatus, Nebulizer, Glucometer and other general surgical items required for the ambulance watercraft. Incidentally, the ambulance watercraft has completed 131 movements todate, transferring 160 patients who needed emergency medical care from the Teaching Hospital Jaffna since her launch on 15th October 2015.
