Naval personnel attached to SLNS Ruhuna located in Tangalle belonging to the Southern Naval Command, in coordination with Tangalle Police, arrested a fisherman with 3 unauthorised fishing nets during a raid carried out in Nakulugamuwa area yesterday (29). The arrested person and the items were handed over to the Tangalle Police for onward investigations.

On the same day, a canoe and 3 monofilament nets, abandoned in Batticaloa Lagoon area, were seized by the naval personnel attached to SLNS Kashyapa located in Vakarei in the Eastern Naval Command. The fishermen had fled from the scene when noticed the approaching naval personnel. The arrested items were produced to Batticaloa Assistant Directorate of Fisheries for further actions.
