Dengue and cancer prevention programmes are held in Northern Naval Command

Following the directives of Commander Northern Naval Area Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva, Naval Public Health Inspectors and naval personnel in the command rendered their assistance to the Medical Officers of Health in Kytes and Velani to conduct several Dengue prevention programmes on 28th and 29th October 2016. Accordingly they made field visits to over 1,897 houses in respective areas, in view of educating the public with regard to precautionary measures of Dengue.

Moreover, a cancer prevention programme was also conducted at SLNS Elara and SLNS Uththara with the assistance of National Cancer Prevention Society (Kandy Branch) to educate the naval personnel. During the programme the participants were educated as how to identify cancer, its signs, symptoms and prevention actions need to be taken.
