Four persons arrested for trapping sea turtles by illegal means
 

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Welusumana located in Mandathivu in the Northern Naval Command found turtle meat and a sea turtle alive from a fishing boat, during a search carried out at Gurunagar Jetty yesterday (11).

Incidentally, 4 suspects who were onboard and 2 fishing nets in their possession were taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons and items along with the turtle meat and live sea turtle were handed over to Jaffna Fisheries Inspector for onward action.
