Northern Naval Command conducts another field medical clinic in Punguduthivu

As a part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s Community Development and Social Responsibility Project, the Northern Naval Command conducted a field health clinic at the Madadaveli Community Hall, Pungudurhivu on 13th December 2016 under the patronage of Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal de Silva.

More than 300 newly resettled civilians in Punguduthivu Island in Jaffna District were benefited from this noble effort. The community in the island highly appreciated the Navy’s Community Development and Social Responsibility initiatives organized under the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, in the island sector of the Jaffna Peninsula.

During the health clinic, treatments were given for child health problems, acute and chronic medical and surgical illness, adolescent and elderly health issues, antenatal heath issues and women’s health care, by the naval medical staff. Patients who needed specialized care were referred to the Teaching Hospital Jaffna. Screening for chronic non communicable diseases was also done with basic laboratory investigations to ensure early identification of diseases among the community. Medicine and nutritional supplements were provided free of charge by the Thriposha Lanka Ltd, State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC), Hemas Pharmaceutical and Interpharma Ltd.
