Re-docking of Navy’s second Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel in Goa, India

The re-docking of Navy’s second Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel (AOPV) which was unslipped on 15th December 2016 was inaugurated by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy and Commandant of the Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Neil Rosayro at Goa Shipyard Limited yesterday (16). The remaining work of the AOPV is scheduled to begin along with the re-docking. This AOPV which is expected to be named “SLNS Sindurala” is the 100th ship lifted by the Goa Shipyard Limited and it is equipped with modern technological features.

The Chief Guest of the event, Rear Admiral Rosayro on behalf of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, extended his sincere appreciation to the Chairman & Managing Director of Goa Shipyard Limited, Rear Admiral (Retd) Shekhar Mital and his staff for their untiring efforts in making the SLN’s two Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessels in record time. The occasion was also attended by Director General Electrical and Electronics, Rear Admiral Wasantha Fernando, Commodore Dharmapriya Wijethunga, Commodore Kapila De Silva and Commander Madushanka Mudunpitage.
