Northern Naval Command conducts a specialized field medical clinic in Delft Island
 

Northern Naval Command conducted a large-scale specialized field health clinic at the community cultural centre in Delft Island on 12th January 2017.

Accordingly, this field medical clinic was successfully held under the patronage of the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal de Silva and in partnership with the staff members of the Teaching Hospital, Jaffna and Regional Director of Health Services, Jaffna.

More than 483 patients in the isolated Delft Island which is situated away from the main land of Jaffna District, benefited from the clinic held free of charge. Twenty four (24) medical officers including a large number of consultants in the fields of paediatrics, obstetrics, gynaecology rheumatology, ENT, ophthalmology, endocrinology, oncology and general physician and paramedical professionals also voluntarily rendered their service during this clinic.

All laboratory investigations and medicine were provided free of charge at this clinic in a patient friendly and convenient environment. Meanwhile the beneficiaries from the field medical clinic extended their heartfelt gratitude to the Commander of the Navy, naval personnel, doctors and hospital staff for organizing this magnanimous deed for the benefit of the community in Delft Island.
