Commander of the Navy addresses student officers of Naval War College in Lahore, Pakistan
 

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne addressed the student officers from Pakistan and allied countries, studying at the Pakistan Naval War College in Lahore yesterday (15). The Commander of the Navy delivered his speech on a salient topic of ‘Sri Lanka Navy’s Experience in Fighting an Unconventional Enemy’.

Addressing a gathering of student officers and senior Pakistani Naval officers, Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne thanked the Commandant of Pakistan Naval War College, Rear Admiral Moazzam Ilyas for giving him this precious opportunity to address the prospective Naval leaders across from the globe and recalled his close affiliation to this college as Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne too followed the Staff Course at the same college in Pakistan way back in 1995.

During his address, the Commander of the Navy highlighted as to how the Sri Lanka Navy fought an unconventional enemy and how a conventional Navy revolutionized its way of fighting this threat and became victorious after nearly three decades.

Elaborating further on the topic, he went on to mention a wide spectrum of spheres such as; the Sri Lankan case, evolution of Sea Tigers, LTTE suicide threat, Navy’s response, countering the suicide threat, research and development, small boat concept, destruction of the LTTE floating armouries etc.

The Commander of the Navy was presented with a special memento in appreciation of his gracious presence and delivering a very informative speech. In similar vein, Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne also presented a memento to mark the significance of this occasion.
