Commander of the Navy calls on high ranking dignitaries in Pakistan
 

The Commander of Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, during his official tour in Pakistan, called on several high ranking dignitaries from the Pakistan Government and military yesterday (16).

Among the top-level officers he called on were, the Minister of Defence Production at the Pakistan Ministry of Defence, Hon. Rana Tanveer Hussain, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chief of Naval Staff of Pakistan, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah and Chief of Air Staff of Pakistan, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman.

Recalling the longstanding friendship between the two neighbouring countries, at their official meetings, the dignitaries from both countries exchanged views on a number of matters of bilateral importance, and in particular the cooperation in transnational security issues prevailing in the region. Further, they had also indicated the importance of deepening military-to-military relations of Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Following the cordial discussions held, they also exchanged mementoes as tokens of goodwill and appreciation. The Commander of the Navy is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka today (17), upon his successful Pakistan visit organized in parallel with the Naval Exercise AMAN -17.
