Navy rescues a critically ill foreigner

The Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to transfer a critically ill foreign patient who had suffered with a sudden heart attack ashore for treatment today (30). The foreigner was on a merchant vessel named ‘ALONISSON’ belong to Greece which had ventured out to sea from the State of Qatar to South Korea.

The Navy, acting swiftly upon the information that a person was in critical condition, dispatched a Fast Attack Craft P 421 to the merchant vessel to rescue the patient. The naval personnel proceeded 31 Nautical miles off Colombo light house to rescue the patient. Having swiftly brought the patient to the Naval Base SLNS Rangala, he was then rushed to the Nawaloka Hospital in Colombo for further medical treatment.
