Navy renders assistance to nab 5 suspects attempted to sell copper plate by illegal means
 

On receipt of intelligence informationto the Western Naval Command, a groupof naval personnel in coordination with Special Crime Investigation Unit, Kandy nabbed 5 suspects who attempted to trade a copper plate, belonging to the Dutch Colonial Era, by illegal means. The arrest was made on 4th April in the general area of in Mahara, Gampola.

The racketeers were transferring the copper plate weighing 56.5 kg by a van when they were apprehended. The suspects along with the copper plate were handed over to the Special Crime Investigation Unit, Kandy for onward legal action.
