Navy grants one million rupees as death compensation to Engineering Mechanic JAMP Amarasinghage
 

The Sri Lanka Navy donated one million rupees as death compensation under the Navy's healthcare scheme, "Naviru Saviya," to the wife of the late Engineering Mechanic JAMP Amarasinghage who served in the Sri Lanka Navy and was unfortunately succumbed to a long term illness. The cheque in this regard was handed over at his residence in Maradankadawala today (11).

The sailor joined the Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force as a Engineering Mechanic Carpenter on 13th December 2011. He had rendered his service at various naval establishments including SLNS Mahasen in Welisara at the time of his death. The sailor aged 25 was a father of one child.

"Naviru Saviya" is a health care scheme, which operates as a non-public fund under the direct supervision of the Commander of the Navy. It provides financial assistance to its members and their families during death, critical illness, permanent and partial disability, general illness, surgery and medical tests.
