Australian Offshore Patrol Vessel ‘Ocean Shield’ arrives at Trincomalee harbour
 

An Australian Offshore Patrol Vessel, ‘Ocean Shield’ today (16) arrived at the Trincomalee harbour on a two day official visit. On her arrival, the ship was welcomed in compliance with naval traditions by the Sri Lanka Navy.

A group of senior officers attached to the Eastern Naval Command made an inspection visit on-board ‘Ocean Shield’ when the ship was berthed at the Ashroff Jetty. The visiting officers were briefed on the operational aspects and function of the vessel by Commander, Joint Agency Task Force, Air Vice Marshal Stephen Osborne.

Subsequently, several representatives of the ship headed by Air Vice Marshal Stephen Osborne called on Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Travis Sinniah and held bilateral discussions on several matters. Mementoes were also exchanged to mark this occasion.

Australian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka HE Bryce Hutchesson, Deputy Commander Maritime Border Command Australian Border Force, Commander Joe Crooks and Defence Advisor, Royal Australian Navy, Captain Jason Sears and senior officers were also present at the event.
