SLNS Sagara and Nandimithra return home on completion of successful tour
 

Sri Lanka Naval Ships Sagara and Nandimithra returned to the Colombo port today (25) completing a successful official tour in Singapore. On their way back to Sri Lanka, the ships’ crew conducted several naval exercises in collaboration with the Republic of Singapore Navy.

On arrival in Colombo, the two Commanding Officers of the ships, Captain Anura Dhanapala and Captain Nishantha Peiris called on the Deputy Area Commander of Western Naval Area, Commodore Sanath Uthpala and held discussions on the nature of exercises undertaken during the tour and their progress.

The two ships left for Singapore on 05th of this month in order to attend the International Maritime Defence Exhibition (IMDEX) and got involved in the events from 12th to 18th. Three hundred and twenty four (324) naval personnel including 34 officers were onboard Sagara and Nandimithra attending this official visit. They took part in a wide variety of programmes which included a warship display, International Maritime Security Conference, International Naval Engineering Conference and Naval Networking Programme.

Organized around the central theme ‘Safe and Secure Seas’ the exhibition gathered 29 ships belonging to 20 countries.
